The Orphanage "Zatik"
|
The orphanage "Zatik" is located in Yerevan, Kanaker, Z.Sarkavagi St., 145B. There are 135 children from 8 to 21 years old - 64 boys and 71 girls. The main reasons for these kids to stay in the orphanage are death of one or both parensts, mental sickness of the parents, their drugs or alcohol addiction, homeless parents, and kids left without their parents care for other reasons.
"Zatik" was opened in September 1, 1993. "Earthquake in Leninakan in 1988, the USSR dissolution, and the war with Azerbaijan or Nagornyi Karabah in 1991 - these are the main reasons to leave the majority of kids without their parents care." - the orphanage director saying. - "To open the orphanage in the chaos of mass unemployment was a real miracle." The idea about a new orphanage came through due to efforts of the religious center "Gondzasar" and a number of charitable organizations and private donors. Later the orphanage was transferred under the supervision of the Department of Labor and Social Services of the Republic of Armenia.

STATEMET OF NEED
|
The government budget supplies with non-sufficient funds to support the children. We desperately need to purchase seasonal clothing and shoes. We also have a shortage of toys and development games, and computers as well.
There is a substantial shortage of furniture, television, dishes, lines, towels, and sanitary products.
The orphanage needs to build a separate building for a gym and for premises for professional training ( Art, Wood Crafting, or Building Skills). For these purposes we have bought a lot 2200 sp.m and planning to build 2 stories facilities for 660 sq.m.
